KR 87-style ADF

KR 87-style ADF

A classic Bendix/King-style ADF receiver: active (USE) and standby frequencies in orange gas-discharge digits, FRQ to swap them, a dual knob to tune. FLT/ET shows a flight timer or an elapsed timer in place of the standby.

Features

  • USE (active) and FRQ (standby) frequencies in kHz
  • Dual knob tunes the standby: outer 10 kHz, inner 1 kHz
  • FRQ key (or a tap on the knob) swaps active and standby
  • FLT/ET cycles the right side: standby frequency, flight time, elapsed timer; SET/RST resets the elapsed timer
  • ADF/ANT and BFO annunciators toggled by their keys (display only)
  • Gas-discharge digits dimmed at night; dark without avionics power; the faceplate takes the red flood light and, when its dimmer is up, the glareshield's warm light (Settings > Dimmers > Glareshield, off by default)

On the iPad

  • Drag the dual knob: outside ring 10 kHz steps, middle 1 kHz
  • Tap the knob or FRQ to swap
  • Tap FLT/ET to change what the right side shows; SET/RST to restart the elapsed timer
  • Tap ADF or BFO to toggle their annunciators

Keys and controllers

Map any of these to a key, a game controller's button or axis, or a MIDI knob (how):

  • ADF +
  • ADF -
  • ADF swap

Simulator data

What the Hub reads from the simulator for this instrument, and what the instrument sends back. Names are the simulators' own: MSFS SimVars and events, X-Plane datarefs and commands.

Add-on aircraft with their own systems may use other variables; the Hub reads the standard ones.

Changes

The instrument's version counts what its faces share (the case, the mechanism, the data, the sounds); a face's own version counts that face alone.
