Privacy
Version of 21 October 2026.
Headingstar has no ads and no tracking, and sells no data. You can use the app without an account: your panel, your pages, your FlightBook, your flight log and your settings stay on your device. A Headingstar account is optional; it lets Pro follow you to your other devices.
Your Headingstar account
Section titled “Your Headingstar account”If you create an account, we keep:
| What | Why |
|---|---|
| Your email address | to sign you in (we email you a code) and to reach you about your account |
| Your name and simulator, if you give them | to greet you, and to know which simulators to support |
| Your devices: their type, the name you give them, the app’s version, when each last checked in | to let you see and sign out your devices, and to keep Pro to 5 devices |
| Your Pro: the plan, the store it was bought in, when it renews or ends, its history | to unlock Pro on your devices |
| Which Terms of Use you accepted, and when | to show you new Terms when they change |
| Whether you want the newsletter, and when you chose | to send it only if you asked |
If you sign in with Apple or Google, we also keep the identifier they give us for you, and the email and name they share. With Apple’s Hide My Email, we only see Apple’s relay address.
We keep this until you delete your account. Delete your account any time in the app (Settings → Headingstar account) or at account.headingstar.com: everything above is deleted, and your purchase record with RevenueCat too. A subscription bought in the App Store or Google Play keeps billing until you cancel it there.
The newsletter
Section titled “The newsletter”Only if you tick the box (it starts unticked) or turn it on in your account. Every email has an unsubscribe link, and you can turn it off in your account at any time.
Services that handle your data for us
Section titled “Services that handle your data for us”| Service | What for | What it sees |
|---|---|---|
| Cloudflare | runs account.headingstar.com and stores the account | everything in the table above |
| Resend | sends the sign-in codes and the newsletter | your email address, and your name for the newsletter |
| RevenueCat | checks your Pro, whichever store sold it | your account’s random identifier and your purchases; never your name or email |
| Apple / Google Play | sell Pro in the app | your purchase, under your Apple or Google account, as for any app |
| Stripe | sells Pro on the web, when that opens | your payment details; we never see your card |
| Sentry | crash reports | see below |
Your simulator’s data
Section titled “Your simulator’s data”The app and the Headingstar Hub talk only on your local network. The flight data, your knobs and your flight plan go between your devices and your PC, and nowhere else.
Services the app contacts directly
Section titled “Services the app contacts directly”To draw its maps and weather, the app downloads public data, as any web browser would. These services see your device’s IP address and the places asked for:
| Service | What for |
|---|---|
| aviationweather.gov | METARs, TAFs, SIGMETs and pilot reports |
| Open-Meteo | winds aloft along your route |
| RainViewer | the weather radar picture |
| OpenFreeMap | the base map’s tiles (OpenStreetMap data) |
| Amazon Web Services (open terrain tiles) | the terrain’s elevation |
| OurAirports | airport and runway data |
| SimBrief | your latest flight plan, when you import it with your pilot ID |
Crash reports
Section titled “Crash reports”If the app crashes, it sends an anonymous report to Sentry: what went wrong, the app’s version and the device model. It contains no personal data. Turn it off in Settings → Menu & device → Send crash reports.
Children
Section titled “Children”Headingstar accounts are for people 13 or older (16 in the European Union, unless a parent agrees). If you think a child under that age has an account, write to us and we’ll delete it.
Your rights
Section titled “Your rights”You can see, correct and delete your data in your account, or ask us by email for a copy of it. If you are in the EU or the UK, you can also complain to your data protection authority.
Changes
Section titled “Changes”When this policy changes in a way that matters, we update the date above and tell you in the app or by email.
