EDM 350-style engine monitor

EDM 350-style engine monitor

A color-screen engine monitor: pale blue EGT and green CHT bars for each cylinder with the CHT red line across them, big slanted digits for the selected cylinder, and on the right oil temperature, oil pressure, volts, fuel flow and both tanks. Four white knobs under a blue menu strip: STEP, LF (LeanFind), DIM-BRT and ALL TEMP.

Every cylinder's EGT and CHT in numbers over the bars, the bars across the whole screen (no gauges on the right)

Press the ALL TEMP knob (toggles)

Features

  • Per-cylinder EGT (pale blue) and CHT (green) segment bars, 4 or 6 cylinders; CHT values over them, the selected cylinder highlighted and boxed
  • CHT red line drawn across the bars with its value in red
  • Right column: OIL-T, OIL-P, VOLTS and FUEL-FL bars in the profile's colors with pointers and red limit numbers; L-FUEL and R-FUEL tank bars
  • STEP pages: each cylinder, then GPH, fuel used, volts, oil and DIF; Auto scan every 4 s
  • LeanFind: LEAN, then ROP / LOP and degrees from peak with the cylinder; hints (LEAN SLOWLY, TOO FAST: LEAN SLOWER, ENRICH TO 50 ROP, LEAN OF PEAK); GAMI spread; each cylinder's peak line
  • Normalize view: EGT bars level at mid-height, 10 °F a segment
  • Alarms (CHT, OIL, CLD shock cooling, BAT low volts) blink in red with PUSH ANY KNOB
  • DIM-BRT: three screen brightness steps
  • Pushed knobs sink and their menu label lights; L ENG / R ENG and NORM shown on a twin / in Normalize
  • Night: the screen keeps its colors (dimmed by the panel lighting), the case and knobs take the red flood light (and the glareshield's light when its dimmer is up)

Your aircraft: Cylinder count, EGT scale (top 700 °F), CHT scale and red line, oil/volts/fuel flow ranges and bands, and tank size come from the profile. Twins: one monitor per engine. A generic profile: 6 cylinders and wide default scales with no bands or red lines (so no CHT, oil or low-volts alarms).

On the iPad

  • STEP knob: tap for the next page; hold for Auto / Manual
  • LF knob: tap to start or stop LeanFind; hold for Normalize
  • DIM-BRT knob: tap to cycle brightness (three steps)
  • ALL TEMP knob: tap to toggle the all-temperatures view
  • With an alarm showing, any knob acknowledges it
  • Long press elsewhere asks to change the instrument

Settings

  • ENGINE (twin aircraft only): Left engine, Right engine

Add-on aircraft with their own systems may use other variables; the Hub reads the standard ones.

Changes

The instrument's version counts what its faces share (the case, the mechanism, the data, the sounds); a face's own version counts that face alone.
