GFC 600-style autopilot

GFC 600-style autopilot

The GFC 600-style mode controller: a charcoal faceplate with a mode display (lateral mode, AP / YD, vertical mode with its target, armed modes), the mode keys and the NOSE wheel. Drives the simulator's autopilot.

Features

  • Mode display: lateral mode (ROL, HDG, GPS, VOR, LOC, BC, LVL), AP and YD, vertical mode (PIT, ALT with its held altitude, VS with the target, IAS with the speed, GS)
  • Armed modes in white (ALTS, GS)
  • ALT holds the selected altitude if captured within 200 ft, else the current altitude to 10 ft
  • Keys: AP, FD, YD, HDG, NAV, APR, BC, VNV, IAS, VS, LVL (blue ring), ALT; green bar lit when active
  • NOSE UP / DN wheel: vertical speed, speed or pitch
  • Display blank unless AP or FD is on
  • At night the faceplate, keys and knobs take the red flood light while the display keeps its own colors, dimmed; the glareshield's warm light falls on the faceplate too when its dimmer is up (Settings > Dimmers > Glareshield, off by default)
  • The display goes dark when the aircraft's avionics power is off

On the iPad

  • Tap a mode key to toggle it
  • Drag the NOSE wheel up or down (down = nose up)

Simulator data

What the Hub reads from the simulator for this instrument, and what the instrument sends back. Names are the simulators' own: MSFS SimVars and events, X-Plane datarefs and commands.

Add-on aircraft with their own systems may use other variables; the Hub reads the standard ones.

Changes

The instrument's version counts what its faces share (the case, the mechanism, the data, the sounds); a face's own version counts that face alone.
