G1000-style displays
The G1000-style displays come as a PFD, an MFD and an audio panel. Put them side by side on an iPad page, or on separate devices.
Keys and knobs, not touch
Section titled “Keys and knobs, not touch”As on the real unit, the screen doesn’t respond to touch. Everything is done with the controls around it:
- the softkeys under the screen;
- the bezel’s keys (Direct-To, FPL, PROC, CLR, ENT, MENU…);
- the knobs: drag around a knob to turn it, tap to push;
- the range joystick;
- the audio panel’s keys (GMA 1347-style).
Keys from a button box or a MIDI controller can drive the FMS keys and knobs too (External hardware).
The FMS knob moves a cursor over each window’s and page’s fields: push it to start, the large knob moves between fields, the small one changes the value, ENT accepts.
What’s there
Section titled “What’s there”- PFD: attitude, the tapes, the HSI (360°, arc, or the HSI Map with the map under its arc), the inset map, Timer/References, nearest airports, DME, the wind, synthetic vision.
- MFD: the map pages (drawn in the G1000’s own style, with the base maps), waypoint and nearest pages, the flight plan, procedures, VNAV, the engine system display, trip planning, utilities and system setup.
- Reversionary mode: fail a display in Settings → Failures, and the other one shows the flight display with the engines.
Lighting, sizes and colors follow the real unit’s manual. It’s still a simulation of its style, not the unit itself.
